Born in São Paulo, Celia Eid is a graduate from the School of Communication and Arts of the University of São Paulo. Between 1978 and 1984 she lives in France and Germany, where she participates in several expositions. In 1984, she returns to her motherland and becomes an illustrator and a graphic designer. She works with the mainstream newspaper O Estado de São Paulo and with several publishers: Scipione, Unesp, Edusp . In 1993, she is rewarded with the Prix Jabuti for the years’ best book cover and the best graphic project. In 1994 she publishes her first comic book: Penare.
After two years contract at Casa Blanca production company, she turns her work to digital arts and to animated motion pictures. She attends two formations in the United States, one in Aurora Systems in Santa Clara and the other at the Visual Computing Institute in Houston.
In 1997 she moves to France, where her carrier takes a new dimension, working mostly on short songs of contemporary music.
In 2005, she is rewarded with the Fluxus On-line Festival jury price for the best interactive motion picture with her movie: Se taire, si ça vous chante: http://www.celiaeid.com/animations-interactives/
In 2019, she is rewarded the price of the best Non-Narrative animation at the Aggregate Animated Shorts festival – Okland/San Francisco (USA)
She also paints and draws and stone lithographic.
Aside her personal projects, she realized animated motion workshops for children in partnership with institutions such as Le Forum des Images and Le Cube, supported by the French Ministry of Education. She also created stage decoration for Cie Picomètre dance performance. And she was one of the collaborators for the literature magazine Passage d’Encres. She was also the magazine’s special guest for its 30th edition.
