Bio

Celia Eid est une plasticienne Franco-Brésilienne qui travaille principalement dans le domaine de l’animation digital, la peinture et la lithographie. Ses œuvres, quel que soit le médium, sont le résultat d’une recherche intense sur la couleur, le geste et le mouvement.

 

Née à São Paulo, diplômée de l’École de Communication et Arts de l’Université de São Paulo Celia vit entre 1978 et 1984 en France et en Allemagne où elle participe à plusieurs expositions. En 1984, elle décide de retourner dans son pays natal elle mène une carrière d’illustratrice et de graphiste collaborant avec le journal O Estado de São Paulo et avec des maisons d’édition comme Scipione, Unesp , Edusp. En 1993, elle obtient le Prix Jabuti (livre) pour la meilleure couverture et le meilleur projet graphique de l’année et, en 1994 publie le livre/BD Penare.

 

Après un contrat de deux ans à la maison de post-production de vidéo, Casa Blanca, Celia se tourne vers les arts numériques et le cinéma d’animation. Elle suit deux formations aux Etats-Unis : une à l’Aurora Systems à Santa Clara, et l’autre au Visual Computing Institute, à Huston.

 

En 1997, elle s’installe en France où sa carrière prend une nouvelle dimension. Passionnée par la musique contemporaine, elle se dirige vers l’animation numérique abstraite de courte durée en collaboration avec des compositeurs. Ses vidéos ont été diffusées à l’occasion de plusieurs festivals internationaux.

 

En 2005, Celia Eid obtient le prix du meilleur film interactif au festival de film pour internet, Fluxus, avec son animation Se taire, si ça vous chante. En 2019 elle a le prix du meilleur film non narratif « no Aggregate Animated Shorts festival » Okland/San Francisco (USA).

 

Parallèlement à ses projets personnels, Célia Eid a animé des ateliers de dessin animé à destination d’un public de jeunes enfants, en partenariat avec des institutions telles que le Forum des Images ou Le Cube, en partenariat avec le Ministère de l’Education nationale. Elle a créé plusieurs décors pour des spectacles de danse de la Compagnie Picomètre. Collaboratrice de la revue littéraire Passage d’Encres, elle fut à plusieurs reprises l’artiste invitée, en particulier à l’occasion de sa 30ème edition.

Celia Eid is a French- Brazilian visual artist working mainly in the field of digital animation, painting and lithography. All of her works are the result of a strong research about color, gesture and movement.

 

Born in São Paulo, she is graduate from the School of Communication and Arts of the University of São Paulo. Between 1978 and 1984 she lives in France and Germany, where she participates in several expositions. In 1984, she returns to her motherland and becomes an illustrator and a graphic designer. She collaborates with the mainstream newspaper O Estado de São Paulo and with several publishers like Scipione, Unesp, Edusp. In 1993, she is rewarded with the Jabuti Price (Brazil) for the years’ best book cover and the best graphic project. In 1994 she publishes Penare a comic book with Maria Lucia Arroyo Lima’s text.

 

After two years working at the Casa Blanca production video company, she turns her work to digital arts and to animated motion pictures. She attends two formations in the United States, one in Aurora Systems in Santa Clara and the other at the Visual Computing Institute in Houston.

 

In 1997 she moves to France, where her carrier takes a new dimension working mostly on short digital animation on contemporary music in collaboration of composers.

 

In 2005, she is rewarded with the Fluxus On-line Festival jury price for the best interactive motion picture with her movie: Se taire, si ça vous chante.

 

In 2019, she is rewarded with the price of the best Non-Narrative animation at the Aggregate Animated Shorts festival – Okland/San Francisco (USA)

 

Aside her personal projects, she realized animated motion workshops for children in partnership with institutions such as Le Forum des Images and Le Cube, supported by the French Ministry of Education. She also created stage decoration for the Cie Picomètre dance performance. Celia collaborated for the literature magazine Passage d’Encres and was the special artist guest for its 30th edition.

Celia Eid é uma artista plástica Franco-Brasileira que trabalha principalmente no domínio da animação digital, da pintura e da litografia. Suas obras são o resultado de uma intensa pesquisa de cor, gesto e movimento.

 

Originaria de São Paulo, Celia é diplomada pela Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo. Viveu entre 1978 e 1984 na França e na Alemanha onde participa de várias exposições.

 

Em 1984, de volta ao Brasil, se dedica às artes gráficas e a ilustração, colabora com o jornal O Estado de São Paulo (Caderno 2) e com várias editoras como a Sipione, Unesp e Edusp. Em 1993 recebe o prêmio Jabuti para a melhor capa e projeto gráfico do ano e, em 1994 publica o livro Penare (quadrinhos em tiras).

 

Durante dois anos trabalha na Casa Branca, empresa de pós-produção de vídeo. É nesse período que migra para o vídeo, a arte digital e, o cinema de animação. Faz duas formações nos Estados Unidos uma na Aurora Systems em Santa Clara e outra, no Visual Computing Institute em Huston.

 

Em 1997 Celia se muda para a França onde sua carreira toma uma nova dimensão. Apaixonada pela música contemporânea, ela passa a se dedicar à criação de animações abstratas de curta duração em parceria com compositores. Seus vídeos são apresentados em muitos festivais internacionais.

 

O filme Se taire, si ça vous chante ganha em 2015 o prêmio de melhor filme interativo para internet do festival Fluxus (Belo horizonte) e, em 2019 Punto Agitato ganha o prêmio de melhor filme não-narrativo do festival Aggregate Animated Shorts Festival em São Francisco/ Okland (USA)

 

Paralelamente a seus projetos pessoais, Eid organizou cursos de desenho animado para crianças no Forum des Images (cinemateca de Paris) e no Le Cube (centro de criação digital) em parceria com o Ministério de Educação Francês. Realizou também vários cenários para espetáculos de dança da Compania Picomètre. Colaborou varias vezes com a revista literária Passage d’Encres sendo a artista convidada da edição de número 30.
